Working with the Open Studio group for young people aged 12-18, we devised, filmed, improvised and summoned this short film for the infamous Galloshans Festival in Greenock.
Inspired by a cursed naan bread in the halloween aisle of Aldi, the group turned a running joke into a piece of chaotic DIY horror pastiche, referencing everything from Edvard Munch’s The Scream to the timeless Ghostface killer of the Scream movies.
Through a series of workshops we made props, created characters and recorded sounds, culminating in a climatic seance in the fire escape.
With thanks to Robyn Dianese and all the young people involved.
